Although the target raw material may be the same, there’s a whole host of differences between onshore and offshore drilling. Our focus lies onshore. From the logistics involved through to the cost of the equipment and the machinery used, these differences extend beyond simply whether they’re on land, or on the water. In terms of prevalence, onshore still holds the lion’s share of oil and gas extraction, largely because it’s so much more expensive to set up a platform offshore. Another difference between onshore and offshore drilling is the amount of time spent on-site. When you work on terra firma, as it were, you get to the site, do your work, and then leave that same day. With offshore drilling, you’re not afforded that luxury.
